Obviously, the starting point is to acquire measures. Our core business is Measurement or Instrumentation which allow acquiring measurement data. However, Measuring is not a goal but a mean to reach the ultimate goal: Improving performance.
RB Technologies doesn’t run formally the Six Sigma methodology in its day-to-day business. However, we apply the DMAIC sequence when we conduct an audit/expertise at customer’s site.

Based on its experience, RB Technologies conduct on site expertise to identify the root cause of measuring devices malfunction or any combustion issue.
The probes are located in harsh environment due to high temperature and various chemical components exposure.
RB Technologies brought its 15 years of experience to develop a methodology which will break down the different parts of the process. It involves various universities and labs to conduct all kind of analysis such as:
- Scanning Electron Microscope
- Infra Red Spectrum
- Optical Microscope
For instance, we notice in numerous examples presence of oil and tar. These components obviously create a disturbance for the measurement.
RB Technologies developed several designs to address each and every situation. Based on the physical measurement that we perform in our labs, we build a set of recommendation to modify the design.

Control
Control system with standard PID control loop or more advanced features such as predictive control loop
O Control
Some plants still run pneumatic control system. Therefore, we often encounter high oxygen set point. We will drastically improve performance with an O pneumatic control system.
O+CO Control
When the combustion is short of air, unburned gas follows an exponential curve. However, there is a small portion which is almost linear that we can use for closed-loop control purposes. COe control allows running almost on a permanent basis under the optimum operating window.
Predictive control
Today, most of the control loops are PIDs. Coe control is very tricky and requires and won’t work with a classic PID. Predictive control is a way out has it will encompass all features required to undertake all process variations.

RB Technologies acquired competencies in thermal engineering to enhance boiler performance. For example, in a fuel change which is typically a shift from heavy oil to natural gas, RB Technologies managed the complete project for its Egyptian customer who runs boilers from 0 to 40 tons per hour of steam. It encompasses the full engineering scope. We run thermal calculations based on the actual design and process parameters. Then, we procure all equipment. The supply covers the full BMS (Burner Management System). Last but not least, we provide the complete control system which will obviously include air control. In such a project RB Technologies covers the full blown scope which does from DESIGN, ENGINEERING, PROCUREMENT, INSTALLATION, COMMISSION and START-UP.
